Edges
Edges, The topic in which you can almost be taking a photograph of anything.
The words I would use to describe these pictures are boring but neat they are shaped and formed to create edges and are straight lines. there are only certain objects and aims for the photos, the task was to write down 30 edges and take 30 photos of them. I like this task because you have to make sure every picture is different. you have to make sure every photograph has a different objects, building or shape as long as they all have edges. I tried to include colour in my pictures. And also the idea of dark and light (natural lighting). It was a difficult task because it was easy to make a mistake for it to just simply look like a basic photograph that went wrong. I also wanted to take edges of people faces and body so that there was a lot of different styles. I don't really like the images i took because i don't believe they are the best photographs I can take, I don't believe that its clear my target was to take pictures of certain edges. Some are good pictures and some are bad pictures but it gives me a chance to improve from my mistakes and to know what looks good and what does not.
theses photographs are my favourite out of the 15 in total I took, The end photograph is my favourite because it has depth it is dark but also light. The edges are clear and neat and the photograph also creates some mystery. However the other photographs are ok but not great they consist of edges that are not very clear and are all very similar. The photographs consist of very bright lighting and a range of colours this is why I like them. These photographs are also a lot more neater then the other pictures I have taken.
Dolores Marat
"Everything is an excuse for a potential photo" Dolores Marat loves photography and edges because he believes that everyone has a different perspective of everything they see, so everyones photograph comes out different and that why he loves it. I personally love Dolores work because he can capture things we see on a daily basis and make it look really pretty. He can capture an image which is quite gloom and old fashioned. The worst thing is, is that i can not choose a photograph that I really like because they all really nice. He does not take any bright coloured photos they are all very gentle and calming, nothing that is too in your face but still really stand out.
The colours are gentle and soft, they are dark but calming. Dolores uses soft colours and gentle contrast in his photographs. He concentrates on the focus and depth and also makes a meaning to the piece. he uses shadows and edges in his work which really shows everything in the photo and area. I really like his work because his photographs are literally of the real world. They are not giving of bright colours and are settling to the eyes. This photograph is good because he has made the centre of the image the most important part of the image as that is the main focus. The lines are straight and neat and the colours are quite subdued. He knew that all he wanted was the man in the seat as the main focus and it is very effective.
Restart
These are my completed Edges photographs, each single photograph is placed and involves an edge in it, some photographs i have taken are completely out of focus this creates a mood of the unknown and wanting to know. these photographs are inspired by the artist and photographer Dolores Marat. Dolores Marat's work involves the entire idea of edges of walls, buildings and unusual people. the photographs all explain a lot more when you see it to when witnessing the place in person. it gives you another side or angle and view of looking at it. could also like an entire new environment.
These are the edited versions to make them look even more like Dolores work as the editing has enhanced and darkened the photographs. to make the feel of the entire photograph change you perspective. the effects can make the entire photographs feel lonely, unwanted, dark or abandoned. They also really adapt Dolores work by exploring a wide and open area which also look entirely empty.
More Edges..
These photos were taking, from high angles, upside down, and an horizontal and diagonal angle. it gives you a different perspective of the same area and surroundings. It also means you can have a group of images that all have a similarity but are also very different. and all end up being the same just because you have based them on the same theme e.g Edges. All of them have been taken outside and are grouped together.
There is a little bit of an orange theme going on through these photos throughout the buildings, the flooring , I tried making the edges clear and sharp, however it was difficult creating a image with an effective edge with a quality photograph in the background. The images are quite wide and clear, a lot of the images consist of bars.
My own images were re-made on photoshop so that there was a dark theme, this way a different view is shown as and I prefer this way personally, it gives the work more depth and challenge. It can even give an image an entire story. The darker it is the closer you will look the more intriguing the overall photographs are.
My Own Plan
I want my final piece to be a collection of collages, they will have two layers of different photographs with two different effects. there will be about 8 created in total. The photos will be consisted of people and places and the edges come into it by the faces, the faces are covered with another images as a shape to cover a main piece of the first picture underneath.
i want my final piece to give you the affect of the unknown. an image on an image creating a positive colourful photograph on top of a negative photograph. Also i will be cutting and placing a colourful picture on top of my foreground that will take away the effect of a normal photograph and make you consider where to look and what you want to look at.

this are my collected pictures of edges, around the school. they all involve multiple images that include different edges being people, places , faces or objects. they are not affective because some do not present clear edges they are also quite boring and not interesting. However some photographs have very clear edges for example some are of the edge of a wall and the lines are very very sharp and clear.
These are the photographs i have inspired my final piece on, it creates a feel of abstract and unrealistic but also quite beautiful. all of the images all involve around the basics of earth, the people, the nature and the things we do in it, aka kissing, smoking and reading but abstracted to something thats 2.
These are the images I have taken which will be used for my final piece, these will be the overlay on top of the edged foreground bringing a completely different subject to be looked at. they will also be cut up into people, building or objects and involved. The reason these will be in colour unlike the photographs that are not is because i want the person looking at it to really absorb the enitre idea of my final piece, if they were one entire colour and all the same then they would be looked at as an entire merge and not properly analysed.
These were the original photographs, i uploaded them twice so that you could see the lining more and details more on each persons face are better when they are in black and white then in colour. The photos in colour show you alot more about the person how ever in black and white its has more depth which creates a dramatic scene. The darker photos also does not include the persons eye colour, shade of hair, lip shade so it is more interesting and unknown.
I edited the photographs black and white so that there is more depth in the shape of the faces and more detail in the lining and edges on the face. This is the foreground, the base of the entire piece. I also prefer the photos in black and white because it brings an old fashioned style and in my opinion more appealing to look at in that shade. The artist i have based my final piece is called
This is another idea for a final piece, it includes edges but is also abstract. these collages are affective because they are unusual and confusing they are intriguing they draw you in. The artist brings in layers of the same thing. I like his effectiveness in black and white and also in colour as it looks decent either way.
Evaluation
My final piece has more bad then good qualities my piece has edges formed in the face and the cut out extras. my final piece is a mixture of nature and natural people. i wanted to combine both things which would also be abstract. i do not believe this is the best that I can do, the focus of the photos are really bad the images are blurry and unfocused. Angel of view- is the amount of subject included in the picture in which is used a little bit, it shows with the photographs on top of the foreground as they are wide and opened images. the full area is examined in the picture. it is clear there is two different scenarios in my final piece however it is bad quality.
I enjoy this photograph as it includes different techniques, his use of blur, colour and affect
