Ways of seeing
This is our first attempt on street photography, as a class we set out in to partners to complete 10 street photographs. We spaced out in different areas so that we could all have different images and we mainly focused on taking photos from a high angle, I was not to pleased with how the photo's came out since some were blurry and taken and the wrong the time. I realised that we tried to be creative but started to over think how we take the photo, instead of taking it in the moment and that you honestly do not have time to think you just react. Some photos looked as if they have been taking deliberately and some look as if they have been taking at the moment. I would title these photos as 'school' because you see school students and the school buildings. We took a lot of photos inside than out however i wish i had
taken more photos outside because they are more affective because of the scenery. The composition of most photos were full of action none of them were calm or still. There is a wide range of colours in the photos such as red, orange, green, blue, black and white.

I like this photo because of the colours & angle, It was taken from a high angle. The colours of the building the orange floor and the art pieces on the wall stand out for the photo. This photo is affective because of the girl walking across the bottom floor. Also the detail of not just the person but the entire background was interestingly 'pretty' as she is surrounded by art.
Reflection and shadows
These set of photos are based on reflections and shadows, we used things such as mirrors, windows, reflective objects such as hand dryers etc. It was difficult to find pictures that had clear reflections and was difficult to beta nice shadow. there were not a lot of things that were reflective so it took a while to get a decent photo. The pictures that were most effective were the ones taken in the window or mirror. It was difficult because the sun kept going in so not many shadows were easy to create.
The images that came out the best were the ones which had shadows on them because this means there is a possibility of many focuses on the picture is about whether it is the actual shadow or what is creating the shadow. |
Looking down
This time we took photos from a high perspective, some photos were on the the walk ways & some were pictures of the grass and pathways. my favourite photo is the one in the middle, the angle of the photo is unusual and looks effective it almost looks as if it is photoshopped in to this formations when in actual fact it is the actual design of the floor.
Walking on
These photos were taken on friday, the theme was based on people walking on, capturing someone as soon as they pass. This was difficult as most photos came out blurry and was not clear. I uploaded the photos that were most focused as you can see some were still unclear. Not many people were about so being able to take a photo of someone was nearly impossible and some of them didn't even want there picture to be taken. You may even notice you had to get in peoples faces to get a photo to come out good even if its an awkward situation the better the photo will appear.
These photos looked better inside than outside, photos focused better and there was a darker contrast in the photo which i preferred. And outside majority of the time there was to much exposure of light. |
Jill Freedman
Jill Freedmon is a highly respected photographer, who's unusual photos have become reward winning, she is best known for photography and documenting photography. When jill was a little girl as soon as she held a camera she knew she wanted to be a photographer. Her photos are very unique and weird she captures obscure things like clowns and interesting characters. I really like her photos because they are something that you do not see on a regular basis and would only be lucky to see for yourself.
Her pictures are usually black and white. |
What I have learnt about street photography?I have learnt that its not just about taking photographs, it is also about being there and experiencing things. Even if your scared this will boost your confidence to go and be more courageous of what you take your photographs of. You can not take a wrong photograph you can take a photograph that can be improved so you can eventually become a professional. Its is better to ask for permission to take a photo then taking a photo of someone without asking. You can take photos in black & grey and in colour.

These photos were taken by Jill Freedman, her pictures are obscured but intriguing. its where you don't want to look but you can't stop looking. her images are a collection of unusual snapshots of people you do not see on a regular basis. Her photographs are highly respected because of her individual view and her photos are mainly in black and white it is very unusual for a photo to be in colour. However her theme of black and white can also have an effect of a dark and creepy feeling. |

My Pinterest board of street photography, something that will help me out throughout the way.
Tate Modern trip
These collection of photos were taken on the trip to the Tate, I am please with a lot of these images as layer out together they are intriguing, all of them are weird and a lot of them are distorted, I believe street photography has been shown throughout these images as they consist of daily views, nature, people , lights , vehicles and buildings (all in which you would see just walking down the street.
